The show drought is ending

It’s mid-January and my show drought is about to end. Tonight, Timeless is back. When we left off, Flynn had kidnapped Lucy. Obviously, Wyatt and Rufus will go after her and get her back. I’m interested to see what happened to Rittenhouse after David Rittenhouse was killed. Rittenhouse’s son, who got away, sounded a lot like his dad, which makes me wonder if anything really changed.

I’m also looking forward to the return of the CW shows. In the next couple of weeks, The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow will be back. I’m most looking forward to Supergirl because of the blossoming relationship between Kara and Mon-El.

Unfortunately, I have to wait until March for the return of Designated Survivor. I can’t believe I have to wait another two months to find out who took the bullet.

My list of the top five hottest guys on TV in 2016

It’s time for my annual list of the five hottest guys on TV. For 2016, I have some new additions from shows that premiered this year. Here are the guys who made my list:

5. Gabriel Soto (David on Vino el Amor) – I’ve watched Soto in many novelas, but Vino el Amor is my favorite. He usually brings the smolder and in Vino el Amor he’s brought it in spades. I’m amazed Irina Baeva hasn’t gone up in flames when Soto has looked at her.

4. Colin O’Donoghue (Hook on Once Upon a Time) –  O’Donoghue continues to be the only man on TV that can pull off guyliner. I haven’t kept up with Once Upon a Time this season, but when I catch an episode, I look forward to seeing O’Donoghue.

3. Chris Wood (Mon-El on Supergirl) – Wood plays the bad boy well. When he was on The Vampire Diaries, I couldn’t stand him. Supergirl is a different story. He’s sarcastic, but he has moments when his kind heart shines through. He’s even tried to be the hero. Also, the chemistry between him and Supergirl is stellar.

2. Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen on Arrow) – Yes, I’ve moved Amell to number two for the first time in four years. I still enjoy watching him play Oliver Queen, but the character has changed. He doesn’t seem to have the same edge that he used to.

And the guy at number one is:

1. Matt Lanter (Wyatt on Timeless) – He’s hot and, like Amell, can pull off a great fight scene. But let’s not forget how endearing his character is on Timeless. Lanter pulls at my hear strings every time his character talks about his wife on Timeless and when Wyatt’s protective instinct kicks in when Lucy is in danger.

Now it’s your turn. Who’s on your list?

New TV shows worth watching

RemotesWe are now several weeks into the 2016-2017 TV season. I’ve watched several of the new shows, but there are only two that I think have lived up to the hype–Timeless and Designated Survivor.

Every week on Timeless, Lucy, Wyatt, and Rufus travel back in time to a major historical event to stop Garcia Flynn from changing American History. They haven’t been completely successful yet. Every time they go back, history is changed and it has affected the present. If you’re a history buff, you’ll love this show. For everyone else, there is plenty of action to keep your attention.

Designated Survivor is about Thomas Kirkman, the Housing and Urban Development secretary, who is named the designated survivor on the night of the State of the Union address. Kirkman becomes president after an attack at the U.S. Capitol kills the president, the Cabinet, and almost everyone in Congress. Since becoming president, he has had to deal with many issues, including finding the party responsible for the attack. I loved The West Wing and this one is right up there with it. There is plenty of political drama to keep you watching.

Another show I love that isn’t quite new, but hasn’t been on since 2015 is Secrets and Lies. Unlike most crime dramas, a crime is not committed and solved in one hour. The crime is committed in the first episode and Detective Cornell discovers new clues in each episode. It takes an entire season to figure out who did it, but I love picking up the clues as Cornell does and trying to figure out who committed the murder and why. It’s a fascinating show.

Fall means my TV shows are back

OrchardAfter a summer full of reality TV, I’m glad that it’s fall and my shows are back. If you follow my blog, you know I watch a lot of TV.

The Goldbergs premiered last week with a tribute to The Breakfast Club and Superstore returned with another ridiculous episode. I love both of those shows.

Here are some of the other returning shows I’m looking forward to:

  •  The Flash – What changed now that Barry saved his mother?
  • Arrow – What will happen now that the team has broken apart?
  • The Vampire Diaries – Will Damon and Enzo return from the dark side?
  • Supergirl – What or who is in the pod from Krypton?

There are a lot of new shows premiering this fall. I’ve started watching Designated Survivor and Speechless. They both seem good so far. Next month, I’m looking forward to Timeless, which is a time travel show. I have high hopes for these shows and hope I’m not let down.
