Superhero crossover event results in two weddings and a funeral

The crossover event, Crisis on Earth X, brought Supergirl, the Legends, Green Arrow, and the Flash together to fight Supergirl and Green Arrow’s evil doppelgangers on Earth X.

Overall, I thought the four episodes were exciting, but at times the fight scenes were a little difficult to follow. To sum it all up, even though it looked like they couldn’t possibly beat the evil Supergirl and Green Arrow, they did.

Sadly, in the melee, Martin Stein was shot. I had read that Victor Garber, who plays Martin Stein, planned to leave, but I didn’t expect the writers to kill him off. They could have left the door open for him to come back after his run on Broadway. I guess he didn’t want the option of returning.

While I shed a couple of tears for Martin Stein, the crossover event made me shout for joy at the end. Not only did Iris and Barry get married, but Oliver and Felicity did as well. Yes, you read that correctly. We finally have Olicity. It looked like we were only going to have one wedding until Felicity surprised everyone by asking Oliver to marry her. After she embarrassed him by saying no in front of everyone earlier in the crossover event, I was expecting him to say no. I should have known that Oliver would never say that to Felicity and I’m glad.

What did you think of the crossover event?

What happened to the superhero shows this season?

In my blog last week, Diggle is the new Green Arrow?, I vented about Arrow. I wish I could say that Arrow was the only superhero show lacking this year, but it’s not.

I wasn’t thrilled with  the last season of the The Flash and this season isn’t any better. I’m still trying to figure out the point of The Thinker. I’m assuming his role in Barry’s life will come out as the season goes on, but I admit I’m underwhelmed with the storyline. The only good thing I can say is that they brought back Harry. Besides Cisco, he is the best character on the show.

Supergirl also hasn’t done much for me this season. I’m really interested in the mysterious mother who seems to have powers, but doesn’t know why or how to use them. Yet, they spent one whole episode on Mars. Maybe it was to introduce J’onn ‘s father, but I think they could have done that without spending an entire episode on it.

I’m not going to stop watching these shows yet, but I wish they would take some notes from what I consider to be the best superhero show on TV — Gotham. Imagine living in a city run by all of the bad guys and that’s Gotham. Every week is exciting. I laugh at Penguin and the Riddler. They couldn’t have cast those roles any better.

There is an ongoing storyline intertwined with Gordon trying to catch a new criminal on each episode. Gordon is a strong character. He’s not afraid to take on the bad guys and will do whatever it takes to save his city.

I also love that we finally have the Dark Knight this season. Bruce Wayne is growing up. I can’t wait for him to don the full Batman costume.

Do you have a favorite superhero show?

The show drought is ending

It’s mid-January and my show drought is about to end. Tonight, Timeless is back. When we left off, Flynn had kidnapped Lucy. Obviously, Wyatt and Rufus will go after her and get her back. I’m interested to see what happened to Rittenhouse after David Rittenhouse was killed. Rittenhouse’s son, who got away, sounded a lot like his dad, which makes me wonder if anything really changed.

I’m also looking forward to the return of the CW shows. In the next couple of weeks, The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow will be back. I’m most looking forward to Supergirl because of the blossoming relationship between Kara and Mon-El.

Unfortunately, I have to wait until March for the return of Designated Survivor. I can’t believe I have to wait another two months to find out who took the bullet.

What shows are you looking forward to?

The Flash stretches the imagination

I haven’t written about The Flash, but the storyline lately has compelled me to write about it now.

This season has been about Earth 1 and Earth 2 and time travel. It took a lot for me to buy into the multiple Earths concept, but I eventually went with it and tried to enjoy the story. Then Zoom killed Jay and we found out Zoom is Jay. The obvious question: If Zoom is Jay, how did he kill Jay? This is the part I find hard to believe.

Zoom explains that he found a time remnant of himself and convinced that time remnant to allow Zoom to murder him. Seriously? If Earth 1 and 2 weren’t enough, now I have to deal with a time remnant.

The writers then want me to imagine a world in which the Flash would give his speed to Zoom to save Wally. Everyone knows this would never happen because Zoom would only use that speed for bad.

I’ve liked this show since it started, but now I’m frustrated. The Flash no longer has his speed and Zoom has decided to take over both Earth 1 and 2. I know the Flash will get his speed back, and maybe having him try to get his speed back is supposed to make the show more exciting, but for me it’s tedious.

I wish the Flash could go back to fighting metahumans and we could forget all about time remnants, as well as Earth 1 and 2.

Do you like the direction The Flash has gone in this season?

My TV shows are back

I enjoyed sharing some of my vacation photos over the last few weeks. But fall is here and that means my TV shows are returning. Gotham, Once Upon a Time, The Goldbergs, and Fresh Off the Boat already premiered.Remotes

This week, my favorite CW shows are back. I’m looking forward to:

  • Arrow – How long will Oliver Queen lead a normal life with Felicity?
  • The Vampire Diaries – What will Damon do without Elena?
  • Reign – Will Francis tell Mary he’s dying?
  • The Flash – How will the writers explain Barry being The Flash when Dr. Wells disappeared from existence in the season finale?

As is the case every TV season, there are a lot of new shows premiering. I’ve started watching The Muppets and so far it’s been worth catching every Tuesday night.
