My list of the top five hottest guys on TV in 2017

It’s time for my annual list of the five hottest guys on TV. For 2017, I have a couple of new additions. Here are the guys who made my list:

5. José Ron (Ramón on Enamorándome de Ramón) –  José Ron is back on my list. While I don’t like all of the tattoos, I do like his expressive blue eyes. I’m going to miss seeing him when Enamorándome de Ramón ends.

4. José Pablo Minor (Gabriel on Mi Marido Tiene Familia) –  I loved José Pablo Minor as Gael on Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse, but I love him even more as Gabriel on Mi Marido Tiene Familia. He handles comedy well and he’s perfect with Daniela.

3. Colin O’Donoghue (Hook on Once Upon a Time) –  I admit that I haven’t kept up with this season of Once Upon a Time, but when I have time to tune in, it’s for O’Donoghue. He’s okay as a detective, but he’s still fantastic as Hook. He continues to be the only man on TV that can pull off guyliner.

2. Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen on Arrow) – For the second year in a row, Amell is in the number two spot. He’s still great to look at, but Arrow has been a disappointment this season. I miss the non-whiny version of Oliver Queen.

And the guy at number one is:

1. Chris Wood (Mon-El on Supergirl) – I’m thrilled that the writers brought Mon-El back.  The chemistry between Wood and Melissa Benoist is stellar. Despite the fact that he’s currently married, I’m convinced that Mon-El and Supergirl will end up together. I can’t wait for the second half of the season.

Now it’s your turn. Who’s on your list?

Superhero crossover event results in two weddings and a funeral

The crossover event, Crisis on Earth X, brought Supergirl, the Legends, Green Arrow, and the Flash together to fight Supergirl and Green Arrow’s evil doppelgangers on Earth X.

Overall, I thought the four episodes were exciting, but at times the fight scenes were a little difficult to follow. To sum it all up, even though it looked like they couldn’t possibly beat the evil Supergirl and Green Arrow, they did.

Sadly, in the melee, Martin Stein was shot. I had read that Victor Garber, who plays Martin Stein, planned to leave, but I didn’t expect the writers to kill him off. They could have left the door open for him to come back after his run on Broadway. I guess he didn’t want the option of returning.

While I shed a couple of tears for Martin Stein, the crossover event made me shout for joy at the end. Not only did Iris and Barry get married, but Oliver and Felicity did as well. Yes, you read that correctly. We finally have Olicity. It looked like we were only going to have one wedding until Felicity surprised everyone by asking Oliver to marry her. After she embarrassed him by saying no in front of everyone earlier in the crossover event, I was expecting him to say no. I should have known that Oliver would never say that to Felicity and I’m glad.

What did you think of the crossover event?

What happened to the superhero shows this season?

In my blog last week, Diggle is the new Green Arrow?, I vented about Arrow. I wish I could say that Arrow was the only superhero show lacking this year, but it’s not.

I wasn’t thrilled with  the last season of the The Flash and this season isn’t any better. I’m still trying to figure out the point of The Thinker. I’m assuming his role in Barry’s life will come out as the season goes on, but I admit I’m underwhelmed with the storyline. The only good thing I can say is that they brought back Harry. Besides Cisco, he is the best character on the show.

Supergirl also hasn’t done much for me this season. I’m really interested in the mysterious mother who seems to have powers, but doesn’t know why or how to use them. Yet, they spent one whole episode on Mars. Maybe it was to introduce J’onn ‘s father, but I think they could have done that without spending an entire episode on it.

I’m not going to stop watching these shows yet, but I wish they would take some notes from what I consider to be the best superhero show on TV — Gotham. Imagine living in a city run by all of the bad guys and that’s Gotham. Every week is exciting. I laugh at Penguin and the Riddler. They couldn’t have cast those roles any better.

There is an ongoing storyline intertwined with Gordon trying to catch a new criminal on each episode. Gordon is a strong character. He’s not afraid to take on the bad guys and will do whatever it takes to save his city.

I also love that we finally have the Dark Knight this season. Bruce Wayne is growing up. I can’t wait for him to don the full Batman costume.

Do you have a favorite superhero show?

The show drought is ending

It’s mid-January and my show drought is about to end. Tonight, Timeless is back. When we left off, Flynn had kidnapped Lucy. Obviously, Wyatt and Rufus will go after her and get her back. I’m interested to see what happened to Rittenhouse after David Rittenhouse was killed. Rittenhouse’s son, who got away, sounded a lot like his dad, which makes me wonder if anything really changed.

I’m also looking forward to the return of the CW shows. In the next couple of weeks, The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow will be back. I’m most looking forward to Supergirl because of the blossoming relationship between Kara and Mon-El.

Unfortunately, I have to wait until March for the return of Designated Survivor. I can’t believe I have to wait another two months to find out who took the bullet.

What shows are you looking forward to?

My list of the top five hottest guys on TV in 2016

It’s time for my annual list of the five hottest guys on TV. For 2016, I have some new additions from shows that premiered this year. Here are the guys who made my list:

5. Gabriel Soto (David on Vino el Amor) – I’ve watched Soto in many novelas, but Vino el Amor is my favorite. He usually brings the smolder and in Vino el Amor he’s brought it in spades. I’m amazed Irina Baeva hasn’t gone up in flames when Soto has looked at her.

4. Colin O’Donoghue (Hook on Once Upon a Time) –  O’Donoghue continues to be the only man on TV that can pull off guyliner. I haven’t kept up with Once Upon a Time this season, but when I catch an episode, I look forward to seeing O’Donoghue.

3. Chris Wood (Mon-El on Supergirl) – Wood plays the bad boy well. When he was on The Vampire Diaries, I couldn’t stand him. Supergirl is a different story. He’s sarcastic, but he has moments when his kind heart shines through. He’s even tried to be the hero. Also, the chemistry between him and Supergirl is stellar.

2. Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen on Arrow) – Yes, I’ve moved Amell to number two for the first time in four years. I still enjoy watching him play Oliver Queen, but the character has changed. He doesn’t seem to have the same edge that he used to.

And the guy at number one is:

1. Matt Lanter (Wyatt on Timeless) – He’s hot and, like Amell, can pull off a great fight scene. But let’s not forget how endearing his character is on Timeless. Lanter pulls at my hear strings every time his character talks about his wife on Timeless and when Wyatt’s protective instinct kicks in when Lucy is in danger.

Now it’s your turn. Who’s on your list?

Fall means my TV shows are back

OrchardAfter a summer full of reality TV, I’m glad that it’s fall and my shows are back. If you follow my blog, you know I watch a lot of TV.

The Goldbergs premiered last week with a tribute to The Breakfast Club and Superstore returned with another ridiculous episode. I love both of those shows.

Here are some of the other returning shows I’m looking forward to:

  •  The Flash – What changed now that Barry saved his mother?
  • Arrow – What will happen now that the team has broken apart?
  • The Vampire Diaries – Will Damon and Enzo return from the dark side?
  • Supergirl – What or who is in the pod from Krypton?

There are a lot of new shows premiering this fall. I’ve started watching Designated Survivor and Speechless. They both seem good so far. Next month, I’m looking forward to Timeless, which is a time travel show. I have high hopes for these shows and hope I’m not let down.

What shows are you looking forward to?

Supergirl not renewed yet

At the end of last week, CBS renewed 11 of its shows, but Supergirl was not one of them. How can this be?

Supergirl is one of the best shows on TV. It has drama, lighthearted moments, action, and romance.

Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant is fabulous. She pulls off the tough businesswoman who believes the world revolves around her well.

After seeing Melissa Benoist in Glee, I wasn’t sure if she’d be able to do Supergirl justice, but she’s great as Kara Danvers/Supergirl. I can be quite critical of action scenes and, while she’s not Caity Lotz (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Benoist does a fair job with the action scenes. She doesn’t appear to be going through the motions.

Cat and Kara have a love/hate relationship. Most times, Cat is nasty and orders Kara around. But there have been moments in which Cat has shown a softer side, usually after Kara does something for her that she doesn’t expect (e.g., write to Cat’s son so he would visit). I’ve enjoyed watching this relationship grow throughout the season.

I also love that, like Arrow and The Flash, the writers worked in a computer nerd. I love Winn and wish that Kara liked him as much as she likes James Olsen.

Besides the great cast and writing, Supergirl has crossover potential with The Flash, Arrow, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which has become quite popular lately,  and the ratings have been good. I just can’t understand why CBS hasn’t renewed it yet. I guess CBS could be waiting until May to make the final decision. I know I’ll certainly be watching to see if this one gets renewed.
