Boy Band: Four out of my top five made it

Boy Band ended last week with the members of the new band named. The architects also announced the name of the band. I don’t understand the thinking, but the new group is called In Real Life.

A couple of weeks ago, I named my top five — Jaden, Michael, Brady, Sergio, and Drew. Four out of my top five made it into In Real Life. The members of the group are Michael, Brady, Sergio, Drew, and Chance.

I’m truly stunned that Jaden didn’t make it. He had the best voice in the whole competition. Chance is okay, but doesn’t have the range that Jaden has. Luckily, Drew has killer vocals and Brady has great range. The band will need them.

I’m excited that Michael made it. I’m curious to see how they work Michael into the songs. The group’s first single has a rap in the middle of it. Will every song have a rap? Having Michael in the group makes In Real Life different from any other boy band.

As I’ve mentioned previously, Sergio can sing, but he also has a ton of charisma. He has that “it” factor. Sergio makes performing look easy.

I don’t know if this group will be a success. We’ll have to wait and see. We’ll also have to wait to see if Boy Band gets a second season.

Are you happy with the guys who were picked for In Real Life?

Boy Band: My top five

I hadn’t planned on watching Boy Band this summer. I was flipping channels one Thursday night and stopped when I saw a young guy singing. He sounded pretty good and I decided to keep watching. Boy Band reminds me a lot of La Banda, another show in which a band is created. By the end of the final episode, America will have a new boy band.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve watched as the guys have competed as part of different groups. The architects made up of Nick Carter, Emma Bunton, and Timbaland have eliminated many of the guys by putting two up for elimination each week. People then vote to save one.

While a lot of guys have gone home, the guys I would put in the band are still there. My top five for the band are: Brady, Drew, Jaden, Michael, and Sergio.

Brady, Drew, and Jaden are great singers. Sergio can sing, but he also has a lot of charisma. Michael is not the strongest singer, but he can rap. I think he’d bring an interesting dynamic to a boy band.

I like the concept of the show and I hope that it is back next summer. Have you been watching Boy Band? Who would you put in the band?

The Bachelorette: Rachel got her ring [Spoiler Alert]

Rachel got what she wanted. She got her ring and is now engaged to Bryan. This one was not a shocker. I think everyone knew she was going to end up with him.

The only shocker in the finale was the goodbye to Eric. I thought the final two would be Eric and Bryan. I was wrong. She kept Peter, even though they had countless conversations about how he wasn’t ready to propose. I respect him for sticking to his decision.

Because she kept him around, their last date wasn’t pleasant. It was more of the same. Rachel harped on how she went on the show for a ring and Peter told her again that he wasn’t ready. Eventually, she gave Peter what I consider to be an ultimatum — either he proposes or she walks — which is not a great way to start what is supposed to be the rest of their lives together.

Even though they both cried, said I love you, and didn’t want to say goodbye, they did. Peter didn’t make it to the rose ceremony.

To me, this means Bryan won by default. If Peter had been ready to propose, I question whether she would have picked Bryan.

So yes, Rachel got her ring, but for how long? A ring is only a piece of jewelry. It’s not a commitment. I can’t help but feel that she chose a ring over love.

What do you think of Rachel’s choice?

The Bachelorette: Why is Rachel pushing for a ring?

After the last couple of episodes of The Bachelorette, I’m frustrated with Rachel. She keeps saying she went on there to get a ring. She wants to be engaged by the end of the show.

I don’t understand why she’s pushing so hard for an engagement. Some people are able to fall in love during the show (e.g., Trista and Ryan) and some aren’t. In some cases, it might take time beyond the show and, in my opinion, that’s realistic. It’s not until after the show that they really get to know each other.

All of this leads me to the issue Rachel has with Peter. He’s not ready to propose to her. Because he’s not willing to propose, I have a feeling she’s going to be saying bye to Peter next. I think it’s unfair to Peter if she really feels something for him, but I don’t think she does. If she did, I don’t think the proposal or lack thereof would be that big a deal. Dating after the show wouldn’t be an issue.

Will Rachel be engaged at the end of the show? Yes, despite all of the second guessing and tears, I have no doubt that she will be engaged, but it won’t be to Peter. I still say she’s going to choose Bryan and I’m not convinced he’s the right choice. As I said in my previous post, The Bachelorette: Who should Rachel choose?, Rachel shouldn’t choose any of them.

Do you think Rachel will get engaged?

The Bachelorette: Who should Rachel choose?

This season of The Bachelorette has been entertaining with the guys all competing for Rachel. There have been lots of tears and lots of fighting. Rachel has done a good job getting rid of the guys who were there just to make trouble. Lee made for interesting viewing, but I’m glad she finally saw through him on the two-on-one date.

There are now only six guys left. From the beginning, she’s had her eye on Bryan. Will she pick him? I think so, but frankly I don’t think she should pick any of them. The guys this season seem fake, more so than usual. They are all trying way too hard and, when they talk to her, I often feel like they are telling her what she wants to hear. Not one of them has seemed sincere.

Taking Lee out of the equation, the guys have still been out to get each other. They argue and constantly question whether someone is on the show for the right reason. It makes me question whether any of them are there for the right reason. To me, it seems as though The Bachelorette has brought out their competitive streaks and all they care about is winning the game.

I don’t see a Trista and Ryan or a Kaitlyn and Shawn romance happening this season.

Who do you think she should pick?

Brenda Bartolomeo is back to discuss The Bachelorette

This week, Brenda Bartolomeo from Betting Brenda pays us a visit to discuss The Bachelorette.

JB: Brenda, I’m glad you could stop by.

Brenda: Thanks for having me. I love talking about The Bachelorette.

JB: It’s been about a year since you’ve joined us. What have you been up to?

Brenda: Last time I was here, the new restaurant in Las Vegas had just opened. I’m happy to report that it has been a huge success and I’m looking at opening another location in Vegas.

JB: That’s fantastic news.

Brenda: Thank you.

JB: Now, let’s turn to The Bachelorette. What do you think of the season so far?

Brenda: JoJo has a lot of good guys to choose from, but it’s been interesting to watch Chad’s outrageous behavior. He’s made this an unforgettable season.

JB: I’ve also been watching because of the drama. Tonight’s episode should be interesting with Chad’s return to the house.

Brenda: Chad is definitely looking for trouble. I’m curious to see what happens. I’d like to know why he bothers going back to the house after JoJo let him go.

JB: What are your thoughts on the dates so far?

Brenda: The fireman training date was fun to watch, but I felt bad for Wells. He struggled quite a bit. I was glad JoJo gave him the rose. I love sports so SportsNation also was great, despite Chad’s attitude. But my favorite date of the season is the football date, even though Jordan had an edge because he used to be a pro.

JB: If you had to pick one guy for JoJo, who would it be?

Brenda: I like Luke. He seems like a sweet guy and he stays out of everyone’s business. He doesn’t get involved in a lot of the drama.

JB: Jordan and JoJo have quite the connection.

Brenda: They do and he’s a charmer, but I think Luke is a better pick.

JB: Thanks for coming by and chatting.

Brenda: Thanks for having me.

JB: Don’t forget, you can check out Brenda’s story in Betting Brenda. Who do you think JoJo should pick?
