Jill’s chitchat: Are the mayor and Misty Saunders over?

Misty Saunders is off to Europe with her sister. She claims she had planned the trip before she started dating Mayor Bennett, but rumor has it that she decided to go on the trip after the mayor broke her heart.

As she climbed into the taxi, tears were falling. The mayor was not there to say goodbye. It is unclear what happened, although there is speculation that the mayor is dating a model. He was recently seen in Richmond with a tall, blond-haired woman.

The once happy couple was recently seen at the Coffee Carafe. They were laughing while drinking cafe lattes. That happiness was short-lived as it appears that Misty has become another addition to the mayor’s long list of exes.

Jill’s chitchat: Labor Day event for all expecting women

Labor Day is Monday and it’s a day when we celebrate American workers and everything they have achieved.

Our mayor, Cord Bennett, and the Lilies of Lincoln Falls have decided to give new meaning to Labor Day. On Monday, all of the pregnant women in Lincoln Falls are invited to the town center for an afternoon of games.

The Lilies have an entire schedule of events that includes wheelbarrow races and a baby hand off relay race. The women also may participate in a car seat challenge in which the women must install a car seat correctly. The first one to complete the challenge wins two boxes of diapers.

Of course, we can’t have an event without food. Brothers Diner will be providing burgers and fries, and the Shake and Scoop will have a variety of shakes available. The food is free for all of the pregnant women. All others will have to pay $5 for a burger and fries and $2 for a shake.

The event begins at 2 pm and will end at 5 pm. I look forward to seeing all of you there.

Jill’s chitchat: Solar eclipse party on Main Street

The mayor has decided to close down Main Street for a solar eclipse party. Come join the fun from 1 pm to 5 pm.

The mayor has enlisted the help of the Lilies of Lincoln Falls. Mrs. Scarlett Flynn is taking the lead and has a variety of games lined up, including a game of eclipse Bingo. I’m not sure what that is, but I can’t wait to find out.

For those of you who love to bake, there will be a pie contest. This one is for you Cheryl, the queen of the cherry pie. You make me want to break up with someone just so I can receive one of your pies.

Of course, in Lincoln Falls, we can’t have a pie contest without a pie eating contest. Everyone get your stomachs ready for this one. I’ve heard Huck Lucas is planning to go for his 20th consecutive win.

Special solar eclipse glasses will be required. Brothers Diner and the Shake and Scoop already have some in stock if you’d like to go and pick them up for free.

See you there!

Jill’s chitchat: Lucas boys fight over a woman

The Lucas boys recently took to online dating. Somehow, they managed to find a woman who is interested in them. You read correctly. I said “woman,” not “women.” Apparently, the Lucas boys have fallen in love with the same woman.

They have been dating her for the last three weeks, but didn’t know they were dating the same woman until last night when she met them at Rowdy’s. Believe it or not, one Lucas wasn’t enough for her. Pick your mouths up off the floor. I’m stunned too.

At exactly 8 pm last night, Huck and Tuck entered Rowdy’s, thinking they were going on a double date. Seeing the woman at the bar, they both walked up to her and then realized they were there to meet the same woman.

An argument ensued and the woman high-tailed it out of the bar as Huck punched Tuck in the nose. Tuck tackled Huck and fists flew. Cooper Rowdy jumped into the melee and finally was able to separate them.

I’ve found out that Huck and Tuck are currently not speaking. Huck has moved out of their house and is now living in the barn. They also have deleted their online dating profiles.

The ladies of Lincoln Falls beware because I have a feeling it won’t be long until the Lucas boys are on the prowl again.

Jill’s chitchat: Headbangers get record deal

You’ve enjoyed them for years at Rowdy’s and now everyone will be able to hear their music because our very own Headbangers have scored a record deal. You’ll be able to buy their albums in stores and online.

I’ve heard that their first album will contain favorites like “Love Is Worse Than a Mosquito Bite,” “Stick Your Hand in a Socket,” “Eat Like a Fly,” and “Get Your Own Tractor.”

Because they have to hit the recording studio soon, they’ll be going on hiatus from Rowdy’s. You can catch their last show this Friday. I hope to see you there.

I’ll be back next week!

Jill’s chichat: An interview with Mayor Cord Bennett

Jill: I have a special guest this week. Mayor Cord Bennett has agreed to join me. I hear you have an announcement to make and it can’t wait until the next quarterly town meeting.

Mayor Bennett: This is something that is going to make many of the citizens of Lincoln Falls happy. We’ve needed it for awhile and I’m pleased to announce that we are finally moving forward with the bike trail. We’ve hired a company that will add a bike lane to Main Street. That lane will then turn off onto a paved path that will go around the lake.

Jill: A bike trail? That’s your news?

Mayor Bennett: Yes. Isn’t it great? I’ve received numerous requests for a bike trail and, at one point, I received a petition from 100 residents.

Jill: Those residents will be thrilled.

Mayor Bennett: It’s perfect for everyone. Parents can take the kids’ bikes to the lake and let them ride. For the physically fit and more adventurous, a separate path will split off from the lake and go up the hill.

Jill: Isn’t that a bit steep?

Mayor Bennett: It is, which is why I said it’s for the physically fit. We don’t want someone to have a heart attack.

Jill: Right. I’m glad you decided to come in for the interview today. Now, for something a bit more juicy. Who are you currently dating?

Mayor Bennett: No one.

Jill: I don’t believe you. You’re always dating someone.

Mayor Bennett: It’s none of your business. I didn’t come in to discuss my private life.

Jill: My readers want to know. Are you still dating triplets?

Mayor Bennett: I’ve never dated triplets.

Jill: That’s not what my source tells me.

Mayor Bennett: Your source is lying. I’m done. You got your interview.

Jill: Cord . . . wait.

Mayor Bennett: Goodbye.

Jill: Well, that was awkward. Congratulations to the residents who fought for the bike trail.

See you next week!

Jill’s chitchat: Stacia and Will Banks are expecting

I don’t usually write about my friends, with the exception of Mayor Cord Bennett, but this news is too exciting. Stacia and Will Banks are expecting . . . puppies. I know you were expecting me to say baby. Sorry.

You might remember that, a couple of weeks ago, they adopted a toy poodle who has been making Will’s great dane, Daisy, miserable. It turns out that the poodle, now named Snook’ems, is pregnant.

Snook’ems is expected to have the puppies at the end of August. While Stacia and Will would love to keep the puppies, they say two dogs are enough for them. They will be giving the puppies away to loving homes. If you’d like to get on the list, stop by the Lincoln Falls Veterinary Hospital and fill out an application. Every new family chosen will be required to go through Dr. Banks’s puppy training.

See you next week!

Jill’s chitchat: Brothers Diner is expanding

Changes have been happening faster than an asteroid barreling toward Earth since Eddie Taylor took over Brothers Diner. He’s revamped the menu, installed a new counter, and now he’s adding an ice cream fountain.

Watch out Braiden Parker, the Shake and Scoop is getting some competition. The menu will feature a Lincoln Falls sundae, which will consist of five scoops of vanilla ice cream, banana slices, chocolate and strawberry sauces, gummy worms, crushed chocolate chip cookies, whipped cream, a cherry, and edible rainbow glitter. It’s an interesting combination. Make sure to save your appetite for this one.

Although the diner won’t offer the same number of shakes as the Shake and Scoop, Eddie Taylor told me that 50 different shakes will be on the menu. Sounds yummy to me.

Eddie says he expects the ice cream fountain to be open in about two months. The diner will remain open during construction so everyone can still get their diner fix.

See you next week!

Jill’s chitchat: Lucas boys take on online dating

Before I get to the main headline, let me introduce myself. My name is Jill Stanton and I’m the gossip columnist for the Lincoln Falls Times. I’ve agreed to take over Jennifer’s blog on Thursdays. Honestly, I begged Jennifer for space on her blog. I love talking about all of the good people of Lincoln Falls and this week’s gossip is about two of my favorite citizens — Huck and Tuck Lucas.

Your eyes are not deceiving you. Huck and Tuck are looking for love and have decided to turn to online dating. I’ve heard that they asked Zach Brody to take professional portraits of them for their online bios. They actually took off their baseball caps and combed their hair for the photos.

I don’t know which sites they are joining, but if you’re interested in possibly dating them, here are a few details.

They both enjoy hunting and farming, and they own several fur hats and baseball caps. They love alligators and dream of one day owning an alligator farm.

See you next week!

New feature coming soon

You’ve probably noticed that I haven’t posted Pet Video of the Week for awhile. I’ve decided to discontinue that feature because I’ve been posting cute animal photos and videos to my Facebook page. If you want to continue to see the animal pictures and videos I find during the week, like my Facebook page.

Starting next week, I’ll have a new feature brought to you by one of the characters from my Lincoln Falls novels. Jill Stanton, the gossip columnist for the Lincoln Falls Times, will be taking over my blog. She’ll let you in on the latest gossip on all of the citizens of Lincoln Falls. Stay tuned!
