Jill’s chitchat: 4th of July in Lincoln Falls

The 4th of July is Tuesday and there are a number of events in Lincoln Falls that you won’t want to miss.

At 11 a.m., you’ll want to be on Main Street to see the annual 4th of July parade. Mayor Cord Bennett will be on top of the American flag float. Will he be flying solo or will he be with the latest flavor of the month?

After the parade, the Lilies of Lincoln Falls are hosting the annual picnic at the lake. Mrs. Scarlett Flynn is looking for volunteers. She claims she has a list of all of the citizens of Lincoln Falls and will know if you don’t volunteer and payback is a…well, you can finish that one.

Stick around after the picnic for the pig and goat races. If you’re daring, join the annual leech contest. Remember the last person standing wins. How many leeches will you tolerate before you pass out? Because Huck Lucas lost too much blood last year, two ambulances will be on the grounds.

The day will end with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Crazy Ed will be on his barge for what he promises will be the best fireworks show ever and he promises no explosions like the last couple of years.

See you at the festivities and I’ll be back next week!

Jill’s chitchat: Lucas boys take on online dating

Before I get to the main headline, let me introduce myself. My name is Jill Stanton and I’m the gossip columnist for the Lincoln Falls Times. I’ve agreed to take over Jennifer’s blog on Thursdays. Honestly, I begged Jennifer for space on her blog. I love talking about all of the good people of Lincoln Falls and this week’s gossip is about two of my favorite citizens — Huck and Tuck Lucas.

Your eyes are not deceiving you. Huck and Tuck are looking for love and have decided to turn to online dating. I’ve heard that they asked Zach Brody to take professional portraits of them for their online bios. They actually took off their baseball caps and combed their hair for the photos.

I don’t know which sites they are joining, but if you’re interested in possibly dating them, here are a few details.

They both enjoy hunting and farming, and they own several fur hats and baseball caps. They love alligators and dream of one day owning an alligator farm.

See you next week!

Pet Video of the Week: Lady and the Tramp as done by cats?

I thought I’d add a little romance this week because Valentine’s Day is next Tuesday.

I love Lady and the Tramp. It is truly a Disney classic. There’s romance, even though it’s between two dogs. Lady just can’t keep herself from falling for Tramp.

When I came across this version, I was truly stunned. It is done with cats. It’s cute and will put a smile on your face.

Enjoy!

Pet Video of the Week: A new way to cut down on shedding

I’ve used a vacuum on my carpets and furniture, but I’ve never given much thought to other uses for the vacuum. Apparently, a vacuum can be used on cats. I imagine this would cut down on shedding. The cats seem to enjoy it. A couple of them go to sleep while they’re being vacuumed so it can’t be all that bad.

Enjoy!

Pet Video of the Week: Back away from the stocking

I love gifts and I remember, when I was younger, I couldn’t wait to dig into my stocking and I didn’t want anyone messing with it. This dog apparently feels the same way. He’s extremely protective of his stocking. No one is getting near it. He growls to keep his owner at bay, which normally I wouldn’t find adorable. But, in this case, he’s really cute.

Enjoy!

Pet Video of the Week: Elf as done by pugs

Elf is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I’ve watched it probably hundreds of times. I love the part when Buddy goes to the doctor and believes he’s in for a treat, only to get stunned when he’s stuck with a needle for a blood test. It cracks me up.

Unfortunately, this pug version skips that part, but it’s adorable nonetheless. In two minutes, the pugs cover the basics of the story and are extremely cute. It will put a smile on your face.

Enjoy!
