At the end of last week, CBS renewed 11 of its shows, but Supergirl was not one of them. How can this be?
Supergirl is one of the best shows on TV. It has drama, lighthearted moments, action, and romance.
Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant is fabulous. She pulls off the tough businesswoman who believes the world revolves around her well.
After seeing Melissa Benoist in Glee, I wasn’t sure if she’d be able to do Supergirl justice, but she’s great as Kara Danvers/Supergirl. I can be quite critical of action scenes and, while she’s not Caity Lotz (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Benoist does a fair job with the action scenes. She doesn’t appear to be going through the motions.
Cat and Kara have a love/hate relationship. Most times, Cat is nasty and orders Kara around. But there have been moments in which Cat has shown a softer side, usually after Kara does something for her that she doesn’t expect (e.g., write to Cat’s son so he would visit). I’ve enjoyed watching this relationship grow throughout the season.
I also love that, like Arrow and The Flash, the writers worked in a computer nerd. I love Winn and wish that Kara liked him as much as she likes James Olsen.
Besides the great cast and writing, Supergirl has crossover potential with The Flash, Arrow, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which has become quite popular lately, and the ratings have been good. I just can’t understand why CBS hasn’t renewed it yet. I guess CBS could be waiting until May to make the final decision. I know I’ll certainly be watching to see if this one gets renewed.

I absolutely love this show. Melissa Benoist is the perfect actress to play Supergirl. As for Calista Flockhart, she always has been a great actress, but in this role, she is marvelous. I just wish that Supergirl, Kara, would wake up and realize that Winn is the perfect guy for her, not Jimmy Olsen. Great show with great writing! Wish CBS would realize they have a gem! With so many other bad shows on TV, you would think that the studio would renew immediately.
I agree that she belongs with Winn. Yes, I hope CBS renews soon, but I have a feeling they are waiting until May.
