While in Dublin, I decided to visit the Atlantic coast of Ireland. The Cliffs of Moher are majestic in their beauty and are the highlight of that side of Ireland. They are approximately 656 feet high and stretch for about 6.2 miles down the coast. O’Brien’s Tower is at the top of the path and offers the best view of the cliffs.
The day I visited, the ocean was extremely calm. I was told that the cliffs are even more beautiful when the ocean is a little rough because the waves splash up onto the cliffs. The cliffs are also home to many different seabirds, but I only saw gulls.
Not far from the Cliffs of Moher is the Burren. It is a limestone plateau that has been eroded by rain. While there is some green, the Burren is known for its odd gray landscape. Because of the fissures in the stone and loose rocks, I took my time while I explored so I wouldn’t twist an ankle or worse. If you go to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren is well worth the stop.
Have you been to the Cliffs of Moher or the Burren?

The Cliffs of Moher are so majestic! I haven’t been to The Burren yet but it’s on my list. Lovely photos – it’s great that you got to see both places on a sunny day. Cheers!
The Burren is beautiful — definitely a must see. The day was so calm that I saw some people sit down on the edge of one of the cliff’s and take photos. I wasn’t daring enough!
What lovely weather you had in the Burren!
It was spectacular! I’ve heard that it’s a rarity to get such a sunny day.
Your pictures are beautiful! I have never been there but you have sold me on it! How do you do your trip planning? How do you decide when you will visit each spot and how long you will spend there?
Thank you! Before this trip, I read a lot of guidebooks and did some research on the Internet. My husband and I made a list of all of the places we wanted to see and then figured out from there how many days it would take for us to see all of it. My husband is great at breaking down days into segments and determining when we would have to be some place and how long it would take to get there so I left that part to him. It was time intensive, but worth it in the end.
Your vacation is my dream trip. Like you, I don’t want to miss anything. Your blogs are so good, you should write a travel guide to interesting places.
Thank you! I’ve thought about writing a book about this trip. I saw so much that I can’t cover it all in my blogs.
